Nomi Capital Closes Inaugural Defense Fund, Targeting Over $50 Million in Total Platform Deployments

Nomi Capital, a venture firm investing in the next generation of U.S. defense and national security technology, today announced the closing of Nomi Defense Fund I, targeting over $50 million in total platform deployments.

Nomi Defense Fund I invests across five strategic domains: Autonomy and Unmanned Systems, AI and Communications, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Space Technologies, and Energy and Power. The Fund targets growth-stage companies at inflection points, combining primary investments with tactical secondary positions in proven late-stage companies. Nomi also offers co-investment opportunities for investors, providing direct exposure to high-conviction positions in its portfolio.

“For the first time since the Cold War, America’s technological and industrial edge is genuinely at risk,” said Jason Zins, Founder and Managing Partner of Nomi Capital. “A generational rearmament is underway, and a new class of defense companies is emerging to rebuild our industrial base with commercial speed and cutting-edge technology. Nomi Defense Fund I is built to back the companies at the center of that transformation.”

“The face of deterrence is rapidly evolving,” said Brent Gerundo, Partner at Nomi Capital. “The companies in our portfolio are delivering capabilities from critical munitions to edge AI to space logistics that the next generation of warfighters needs, on time and at the scale necessary to address the threats of the modern battlefield.”

The Fund has already made investments in category-defining companies including Armada, Firehawk, and Starfish Space. Through a concentrated, high-conviction portfolio and a differentiated sourcing network, it offers investors curated access to the companies driving the modernization of America’s defense industrial base.

Zins brings over 12 years of private markets experience and a track record deploying over $450 million in private technology deals as former Partner at SkyBridge Capital. Gerundo served in U.S. Army Special Operations before covering Aerospace and Defense as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, and has over five years of senior operating experience at venture-backed technology companies.
