Equus Growth Advisors, the healthcare advisory firm specializing in the operational transformation and sustainable growth of founder-led and PE-backed healthcare organizations, today announced a strategic partnership with Jerry Durham, founder of The Client Experience Company, to launch the firm’s Patient Engagement & Experience Vertical. Durham joins Equus as Patient Experience Lead and will fully lead the development and delivery of the vertical under the Equus brand.
A physical therapist by training, Durham has spent more than two decades helping clinic owners, providers, and front-office teams transform how patients are welcomed, engaged, and retained. Through The Client Experience Company, he has trained thousands of clinicians and built a proprietary methodology that connects front-desk performance, provider behavior, and operational metrics into a single experience strategy.
Under the partnership, Durham’s platform will be integrated into the Equus ecosystem as a dedicated vertical focused on:
- Clinic training and team development — live and on-demand programs that operationalize patient experience across the entire clinic team.
- Provider education — behavior-based curricula that equip clinicians to drive retention, referrals, and outcomes.
- Speaking and engagements — keynotes, workshops, and executive sessions for industry events, associations, and portfolio companies.
- Patient experience transformation — end-to-end advisory engagements that re-architect how organizations design, deliver, and measure the patient journey.
“Jerry is, simply put, the most respected name in patient experience in our industry,” said Matt Byrne, Managing Partner and CEO of Equus Growth Advisors. “He has spent his career proving that patient experience isn’t a marketing exercise — it’s an operational and cultural discipline that compounds across every visit. Bringing Jerry and The Client Experience Company into Equus gives our clients direct access to a proven system for building patient-centered, growth-oriented organizations.”
The new vertical deepens Equus’ existing patient experience service line and extends it into a fully operationalized capability led by one of the industry’s most respected practitioners. As reimbursement pressure increases and consumer expectations rise, patient experience has moved from a soft differentiator to a board-level priority — directly tied to retention, plan-of-care completion, referral volume, and enterprise value.
Durham will continue to lead all client-facing programs, speaking engagements, and training delivery, with The Client Experience Company’s methodologies and IP now operating as the foundation of the Equus Patient Engagement & Experience Vertical. Existing clients, partners, and licensees of The Client Experience Company will experience continuity of service, with expanded resources available through the broader Equus platform.
“Equus was built by operators who have led the types of clinics, companies, and boards we now advise — and that’s the room I wanted to be in,” said Jerry Durham, Patient Experience Lead at Equus Growth Advisors. “Partnering with Equus lets me take the work I’ve been doing across the country and scale it. The mission doesn’t change; the platform behind it just got significantly bigger.”
The Patient Engagement & Experience Vertical is the next step in Equus’ build-out of a comprehensive, discipline-led advisory ecosystem — one designed to meet healthcare operators with the same combination of clinical credibility and commercial acumen that defines every Equus engagement.
